About Green Racks
An Australian-owned data centre facility, run by real people.
Green Racks operates a purpose-built, modular edge data centre in Osborne Park, Western Australia. We own the hardware, we run the network, and we give back with honest pricing.
The story
Most Australian hosting providers are not Australian. They resell capacity from US hyperscalers and put a local invoice on top — your data sits in Sydney, your support sits in Manila or Bangalore, and your packets cross 45 to 60 milliseconds of round-trip latency every time someone in Perth loads your site. That is the market we kept running into.
Green Racks started as the alternative we wanted to exist. A Perth-local data centre with named hardware, run by the people who own it, with sub-10ms latency for Perth-metro traffic and an ABN you can look up. No US parent. No reseller layer. No call-centre triage tier between you and the person who can actually fix the problem.
We started with infrastructure build outs to capitalise on existing commercial infrastructure. We sped to market by having fast professional teams of civil engineers and trades get us online. We now host IT services that range from cybersecurity, to webhosting, VPS, managed colocation and moving SMB off prem saving them money and stress.
We are passionate about giving back to the SMB in Australia as being a part of that community. The true-blue aussie way is to help thy neighbour and in-turn live in a better Australia.
Founders
James Newcombe
Founder & CEO
James Newcombe is the founder and CEO of Green Racks Pty Ltd, Western Australia’s sovereign edge data centre operator. With a background spanning infrastructure, AI development, and technology operations, James designed, built, and commissioned the Green Racks modular data centre facility with an esteemed group of engineers — a purpose-built 40ft edge node. He orchestrated the logistics, craned the container in and laid the infrastructure with his own hands. And with some hired machinery…
James’s approach is direct and operational — he builds what he runs, runs what he builds, and is passionate about keeping client data sovereign in Perth.
Where we are
Osborne Park, Perth, Western Australia 6017 — roughly 6 km north-west of the Perth CBD. Our facility is a purpose-built 40ft high-cube containerised data centre housing multiple racks. Hardware is physically in Australia, under Australian law, operated by an Australian-owned company (ABN 72 662 508 447).
Our principles
Real hardware, not rebranded cloud
We can tell you the make, model, and serial number of the machine your site is on. Nothing is white-labelled. Nothing is “powered by AWS underneath.”
People answer the phone
No tier-one script readers. No ticket triage tree. The person you speak to is the person who can look at the rack and fix it.
Australian-owned, end of story
No US parent. No foreign holding company. ABN registered in WA. Customer data sits on hardware physically in WA under Australian law.
Latency is a feature
Sub-10 ms from Perth-metro endpoints to our origin. That number is structural — it comes from being in the same city, not from a marketing slide.
